Introduction

FaceIt ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Location Data

FaceIt requires access to your device's location to calculate the direction (bearing) to your target destination. This data is:

• Used locally: Your location is processed entirely on your device to calculate bearings
• Not transmitted: Your precise location is never sent to our servers
• Temporarily cached: Location may be cached locally for a short period to improve app performance

Search History

When you search for locations, the app stores:

• Search queries: The names or addresses of locations you search for
• Last 10 searches: Only your 10 most recent searches are retained
• Stored locally: All search history is stored on your device only

Favorite Locations

You may choose to save favorite locations. This data includes location names, coordinates, and custom labels. All favorites are stored locally on your device.

Device Sensors

FaceIt accesses the following sensors to provide compass functionality:

• Magnetometer: To determine compass heading
• Accelerometer: To detect device orientation
• Gyroscope: To improve heading accuracy

Sensor data is processed in real-time on your device and is never stored or transmitted.

Third-Party Services

Google Maps API

FaceIt uses the Google Maps Geocoding API to convert location names into coordinates. When you search, your search query is sent to Google's servers. Google's Privacy Policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Google Places API

FaceIt uses the Google Places API to provide location autocomplete suggestions as you type. Your partial search queries are sent to Google's servers to retrieve relevant place suggestions. Google's Privacy Policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Firebase Services

Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymized usage data including app opens, screen views, feature usage, and device type. No personally identifiable information is collected.

Firebase Crashlytics: Collects crash reports including device model, OS version, app state at time of crash, and an anonymous user identifier.

Firebase Remote Config: Delivers app configuration updates including popular location lists.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide core functionality: Calculate bearings and distances to locations
• Improve the app: Analyze anonymized usage patterns to fix bugs and add features
• Personalize your experience: Display your recent searches and favorites

Data Storage and Security

• Local-first approach: All personal data is stored locally on your device
• No cloud sync: We do not store your personal data on external servers
• No accounts: FaceIt does not require user accounts or registration
• Encryption: Data at rest follows your device's security settings

Your Rights and Choices

Access and Control

You have full control over your data:

• Clear search history: Settings > Data > Clear Search History
• Remove favorites: Swipe to delete individual favorites
• Reset preferences: Uninstall and reinstall the app

Location Permission

You can revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. Without location access, the app will prompt you to enter coordinates manually.

Delete All Data

Uninstalling FaceIt removes all locally stored data including search history, favorites, and preferences.

Children's Privacy

FaceIt is suitable for users of all ages (rated 4+ / Everyone). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require any personal information to function.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
